Terms of use.

The agreement between you and Roava. Effective September 10, 2026.

By using the Roava mobile application (“App”), you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”), which form a legal agreement between you and SimpleSyrup Inc. (“Roava”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), a corporation incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act with its registered office at 10-1338 Wellington St W, Ottawa, ON K1Y 3B7, Canada. SimpleSyrup Inc. has assumed operations previously carried on under the SimpleSyrup name. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

Roava is intended for users age 13 and older. If you are under 13, you may not use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

2. Description of Service

Roava is a location-based audio guide. The App uses your device’s GPS to discover nearby landmarks, each with AI-generated narrated audio about the places around you. Key features include:

  • Landmark Discovery: Finding notable places near your current location.
  • Audio Tours: AI-generated narrated guides about landmarks, with a synced transcript.
  • Free Listens: Three free landmark listens in each city, before any purchase.
  • Visit History: A record of landmarks you have visited.

All tour content — including scripts and narration — is generated by artificial intelligence and is not user-created.

3. Account and Authentication

You must sign in using Apple Sign-In to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and device. You agree not to share your account credentials or allow others to access your account.

4. Location Services

The App requires access to your device’s location to function. Location data is used to identify nearby landmarks. You may disable location services at any time through your device settings, but this will prevent the App from discovering landmarks near you.

5. In-App Purchases

  • All payments are processed through the Apple App Store. Roava does not collect or store payment information.
  • Unlocking a city is a one-time purchase that never expires (not a subscription) and opens all landmark audio in that city, beyond the free listens.
  • Manage your purchases through your Apple ID account settings.
  • Refunds are subject to Apple’s refund policies.
  • Pricing may vary by region and is determined by App Store configuration.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

All tour content in the App is generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information. Tour content is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. Do not rely on it for safety, navigation, or critical decision-making. Roava is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App’s servers, networks, or infrastructure.
  • Use automated tools to access, scrape, or collect data from the App.
  • Circumvent purchase requirements or access controls.
  • Redistribute, republish, or publicly display App content without permission.

8. Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including AI-generated audio, tour scripts, text, visuals, and branding — is owned by or licensed to Roava. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any App content without our prior written permission.

9. Your Photos

When you submit a photo through Roava, you keep ownership of it. You give Roava a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, crop, adapt, publish, publicly display and distribute that photo — in the App, on our website, and in materials promoting Roava — in any media now known or later developed. We may show it with or without your name.

You can withdraw this licence for future uses at any time by emailing support@getroava.app. We will stop using the photo in anything new, and remove it from the App and our website at the next update. The licence is permanent and irrevocable for uses already made — copies already published, distributed, or built into app releases, App Store listings, or marketing materials cannot be recalled.

You confirm that you took the photo, or otherwise have the rights to it, that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that anyone clearly identifiable in it has agreed to appear.

We are not obliged to use, review, or keep any photo you submit, and we may remove it at any time. Do not submit photos that are unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringe someone else’s work.

10. No Warranties

The App is provided “as-is” and “as-available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roava and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury. Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from your use of the App is limited to the greater of $100 USD or the total amount you have paid to Roava in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Roava and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and without prior notice. You may stop using the App at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

14. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms or any features of the App at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with any changes, you must stop using the App.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Roava regarding your use of the App and supersede any prior agreements.
